So you want to build a sales funnel as part of your digital marketing plan but you don’t know where to start. Plus there are a ton of terms and you have no idea what people are talking about.
Sales Funnel Terms
Landing Page A single page where a visitor is instructed to carry out an action – usually to provide their email in exchange for an offer (i.e. coupon, free report, video). The best Landing Page creators I like are LeadPages for simple funnels and Clickfunnels for more advanced funnels. Mailerlite also provides basic landing pages and is free to get started. I also use Divi For my WordPress theme that also creates Landing Pages.
Irresistible Offer Your landing page needs to provide an irresistible offer to get a visitor to be willing to exchange their email address for what you have. Your offer should address their pain point and give them an easy fix or quick win.

An OTO, also known as a one-time offer, is an offer that is made to a customer at a time when they have only that single chance to make a purchase. The OTO can increase your sales as a customer can potentially spend more than their original purchase.
Thank you page
The thank you page is the page that you send someone to after they opt-in to your freebie. Use this page to Thank the visitor for opt-in to your freebie and to show them an upsell offer for another one of your products.
If you want to be able to have affiliate promote your offers I recommend ThriveCart. Here is no monthly fee where Clickfunnels is $297 per month.
This video can walk you through how it works.
For a sales funnel to start generating sales you need ways to get your ideal customer into your funnel. My top sources for getting traffic into your funnel are Facebook Ads and Pinterest. A great resource for understanding funnels and traffic is this book.
After a customer enters their email address, you need to send them what they opted in for as well as build a relationship with the customer. This means sending an email sequence that builds you as an authority as well as building like, know and trust. I recommend Active Campaign, Mailerlite and ConvertKit.
Now that you have traffic and an email sequence you might be looking to get people to buy your online course. Picking a place to put your online course can be confusing here are some benefits of each platform.
